Metal-Archives 100% Complete Advanced Dataset
Why?
I spent a large chunk of the last decade wishing it was easier to filter and extract information from the M-A Database, such as :
  • What was the 500th band added?

  • What was the nth (insert genre) band added?

  • What was the 50th band added from (insert country)?

  • How many Dungeon Synth (insert other genre) bands are there?

  • When was the first band with the genre (Insert) added?

You get the idea. I was totally stunned when I discovered that a number of people have also wondered the same, so I have decided to make a filterable spreadsheet that contains every single band on the site, with information captured to allow you to discover these things.

At present, you can search by band name, country, genre, and the user that added them. Each band also has a unique reference number that aligns with its placement in the database. We all know that Amorphis is #1, but did you know that Burzum has the distinct irony of being #88 on the site code? (Although it currently sits at 79th on the site due to at least 9 bands being deleted in the earlier days).

I would like to thank Hellblazer greatly for kindly allowing me to continue and advertise this.

In this example, I wanted to find out who the first "pure" Pagan Metal band from Germany was, and when they were added to the site. This simple search revealed that the answer is "Riger" and they are currently the 4540th band to be added to the site.
